LP - X_X (X-Blank-X) - X Sticky Fingers X - Import - $19.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

YES!!!!!!  Full Contact and Ektro's long awaited X_X rarities lp "X Sticky Fingers X" is here!!!!!   All you punk collectors and Ohio rock junkies are probably already running out the door to grab this criminally limited album, but those in need of some liner notes, read on -

"Life's greatest pleasures are often its most fleeting. Witness, for example, the ephemeral run of X__X, a turbulent quartet that tore through Cleveland like a Dadaist cyclone for six months in 1978. Preceding his imminent relocation to NYC, burly, blond brawler John D Morton assembled the project as a tighter, more rocking successor to his storied proto-punk act, the electric eels. An early, practice-room incarnation included that group's inimitable singer, Dave E. McManus, as well as future Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film author Michael J. Weldon. Shortly thereafter, the cast of characters stabilized to encompass razor-wire guitarist Andrew Klimeyk; CLE magazine editor turned bassist Jim Ellis; and drummer Anton Fier, who went on to fame and fortune with the Feelies, the Lounge Lizards, Pere Ubu, and the Golden Palominos.
Pronounced "ex blank ex," the name also doubled as a mental exercise in which a person could insert random words or phrases between the two letters in the moniker. Hence, Morton's jab at the Rolling Stones' sagging legacy for the title of this hotly-anticipated retrospective: X Sticky Fingers X. Compiling a couple of prized singles with a feast of lo-fi but raging live and rehearsal material, the album boasts radical revisions of several eels classics alongside tunes that would appear drastically altered on a Styrenes LP and on Klimeyk's solo seven-inch. As if that weren't sufficiently tantalizing, underground-culture historian and journalist Jon Savage penned the hepcat liner notes that accompany this "really boss set" of "mean sounds aimed at making your feet move."
But forget that jive. The main lure is Morton's ridiculously potent cocktail of brute force, no-wave squall, and nihilistic art prank. Pissed-off vocals, ass-kicking riffs, a hard-charging rhythm section, and the whirr of onstage circular saws split the air. Yet somehow, tracks such as "A," "Drapery Hooks (of My Love)," and the grammar-flouting "Your Full of Shit" manage to be catchier than syphilis. Moments of genuine confusion abound, too: "Rattler" stops dead before it truly starts, and a snatch of audience vérité purports to be a cover of "I'm So Fucked Up," a "song" by one of Morton's previous "bands" Johnny & the Dicks—in this case, a purely conceptual one that never played music. (Joke's on you, pal.)
Nowadays, X__X's erstwhile leader resides in the hinterlands of New York State, a base from where he paints, sculpts, writes, draws, snaps photos, churns out giclée prints, chops wood, and occasionally travels to perform with the Dunking Swine of Chelsea, Scarcity of Tanks, and the charmingly-christened New Fag Motherfuckers. Despite these numerous pursuits, he still found time to design the package and supervise the production of this definitive anthology. And so, it is with tremendous pride that Ektro Records and I present X Sticky Fingers X in all its unruly splendor. For your pleasure. Unto eternity.
Jordan N. Mamone, New York City January 12, 2014" - Ektro/ Full Contact Records

Destructo, off-the-rails punk rock doesn't get any better than X_X!!!!   From the rare studio tracks to the absolutely bonkers live material, "X Sticky Fingers X" will permanently cement these RnR malcontents next to their more revered brethren like Electric Eels, Styrenes, Jack Ruby, Rocket From The Tombs and the Urinals.  We could rant on and on about how blown out, art bent, drunken, chaotic and IMPORTANT X_X is, but one spin is all the convincing yer gonna need.  This lp is not just necessary for rustbelt punk fans and obscurity collectors, but for anyone who loves real fucking rock n roll.  SO YEAH THIS ONE'S EPICALLY RECOMMENDED.

LP - Stagefright - D-Day - Original Stock - $199.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen
ORIGINAL SEALED COPIES!!!

"D-Day" is a 1980 US private press release from Carthage, MO's Stagefright.  It is an album of heavy guitar psych, Midwestern balladry and blues based bar rock that runs the gamut with the harmonica drenched love letter to the homeland "Ozark Mountains" to sentimental grazers like "Keep On Believin'" to full-on chest hair growers with muscular cuts like "Notice Me", "Put Your Good Foot Out" and "D-Day".  Stagefright know how to crank it up too and blast out some seriously blistering hot guitar licks on nearly every track.  And you'll be in stitches by the end of "3.2", a rockin' little ditty about driving to Kansas to score 3.2% beer cuz they're not old enough to obtain the real stuff!!!  All in all, "D-Day" is 10 cuts of raw down home R'n'R choogle rife with whisky soaked jams!  For fans of CCR, Bloodrock, Crazy Horse, Medusa, the Bonehead Crunchers and Warfaring Strangers comps!

These are the last known available copies and the jackets have some shelf ware and slightly bumped corners but are all sealed untouched copies that are in fantastic shape.

7in - Jupiter Prophet - 35000 Feet - Original Stock - $19.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen
ORIGINAL 1986 STOCK

We've acquired yet another private press anomaly here at Permanent Records in the form of Jupiter Prophet's "35000 Feet" b/w "Sayanata Vondata" single.  The address on the center label says this is from Kansas City, yet it was manufactured in Canada.  We're not entirely sure where this lovely little oddball single comes from but it is seemingly from some quaint corner of outerspace.  "35000 Feet" starts off with a jarring blast that sounds like Brion Gysin's "Pistol Poem" or perhaps someone whacking a pipe on an aluminum storm door only to give way to a hypnotic arppegiating synth line and a pleasantly sing-songed vocal that gives the track it's real charm.  The juxtaposition of the melodic vocals and synth with the dissonance of the cracking rhythm really makes this an unique song.  On the flip we have the instrumental "Sayanata Vondata" that is a kaleidoscopic affair of mesmerizing synth lines that plays out like an interlude and recalls the sound of Cluster, Klaus Schulze and Moebious et al.  You all know we love us some outsider weirdness and this one has a sound all its own!  These are original 1986 private press copies that come housed in a white paper sleeve and are most certainly recommended.

LP - Verma - Sunrunner - Mixed Color Vinyl - $11.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

Trouble In Mind is back with a brand new lp from Chicago's own astrally projected psychedelic
warriors Verma entitled "Sunrunner."  So get ready for yer senses to swoon and morph, and read on for the deets straight from our dealer man -

"Chicago’s own psychedelic explorers, Verma are back with their first proper full-length offering since the band’s self-released ‘Exu’ album (not counting, of course the ‘Coltan’ LP - conceived as a soundtrack to a VICE web series & released on vinyl by us here at Trouble In Mind in 2013). “Sunrunner” finds the band veering back towards the cosmic (or ‘kosmiche’), song-oriented compositions without sacrificing their sharply honed talents for improvisation in the studio, culling together their tightest suite of tunes to date.
“Regolith” opens up the album with buzzing feedback, as a roaring guitar line kicks in like an air-raid siren before the song’s propulsive engines erase you from existence. ‘Sunrunner’ tarries back & forth nimbly between the opener & “Chrome”s rocket-fueled reverberations & the soothing sways of songs like the instrumental alien pulse of ‘Erato’ & the soaring title track that closes ‘Sunrunner’, gliding off into the outer reaches of Earth’s atmosphere.
The album flows past you before you even realize, a true testament to the musical synergy & talents of the band, who form an almost symbiotic relationship in the live setting, capturing & documenting their psychic bond on “Sunrunner” The swirling, layered loops of Johnny Caluya’s guitar mesh seamlessly with the interstellar drones & throbs ebbing from Whitney Johnson’s Acetone, but the real secret weapon of ‘Sunrunner’ lies in the rhythm section of bassist Rob Goerke & drummer Zach Corn’s locked-tight grooves that pulse steadily & subtly like all great rhythm sections are supposed to, providing a rubbery backbone that supports the albums seven tunes.
The standard vinyl edition of “Sunrunner” is pressed on black vinyl & includes a download code.
RIYL: Hawkwind, Cave, Loop, Neu!, Spacemen 3, Ruth White, Eat Lights Become Lights" - Trouble In Mind

Verma might not be a household name yet, but they sure should be after "Sunrunner."  Once the need drop's on their third lp, you'll get sucked somewhere deep down the wormhole, where epic space rock whirrs past the lysergic jams indebted to our heady RnR forefathers, where the kosmische grooves lock you down, building and building layers upon layers of acid soaked guitars, hallucinatory synths and motorik rhythms and before you know it yer face has long since melted.  Most bands sway towards one mind bending genre or another, but Verma somehow hits all our sweet spots.   Maybe it's because they love all the same records we do.   But one thing is for sure, "Sunrunner" is an insta-classic from one of the fiercest and in-the-zone psych bands kickin' around these days.  RECOMMENDED X INFINITY AND THEN SOME!!!!!!!!!

LP - Mammane Sani - Taaritt - $13.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

Spacey, mellow instrumentals from Nigerian keyboardist Mammane Sani! Mississippi offshoot-label Sahel Sounds launched this one into the stratosphere, so kick back and let 'em ride:

"Cosmic synth from Niger’s Mamman Sani. Polyphonic analog synthesizers and drum machines interpret ancient Saharan folk ballads in an imagined science fiction future. A proposed relaxation guide, sonically lying somewhere between ambient library music and minimal wave. Recorded in Niger and France in the late 1980s and never before released."

We were BLOWN AWAY by the previous release on Missisippi compiling Sane's late-Seventies work, and this one is just as great! Recorded in both Niger and Paris, "Taaritt" covers a period from 1985-88, the grooves here are just as hypnotic as before, with Sane's nimble fingers coaxing soulful keyboard lines out of an array of synthesizers, dancing on top of mesmerizing and re-imagined Saharan folk ballads. The feel here is cosmic and relaxing, with a real joyful vibe throughout the album's 8 instrumentals. Sane's use of Eighties-era synths and drum machines places this record in the realm of Timmy Thomas' meditative groover "Why Can't We Live Together" or Numero's recent 'Personal Soace' compilation of private-press electronic soul. This is one to throw on and zone the fuck out to, as Sane's own quote from the back says; "It's music to cool down. It's not music for dancing, but maybe it can make you dream." RIGHT ON.  Recommended times infinity - this is an essential slab of wax!

10in - Audacity - Juvajive - $11.99- BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

We just scored a batch of this scorching 10inch that was co-released by Cut Rate Records and Burger Records! Get some history on this long awaited release from Burger, Spin and Terminal Boredom:

"These are the recordings that Audacity was handing out at shows when they were in high school circa 2007!!!
A 10” was made of these mythic recordings way back when but never got past the test pressing stage… UNTIL NOW!!!"-Burger

"Audacity have long been paragons of California's lo-fi punk community. Way back in 2007, the quartet recorded their little-heard debut album, Juva Jive, which got some test pressings but never saw wide distribution. Now, the nine-track effort has been rescued from record-crate obscurity and given a proper vinyl and cassette release through Burger Records and Cut-Rate Records.
Recorded when the band members were still in high school, Juva Jive closes with "Mode," a distortion-heavy heap of chugging power chords and blow-out-your-tape-deck snarl that ends with the snot-nosed compliment, "I like you in the morning / But I hate you in the evening." Listen below, and pick up Juva Jive through Burger or Cut-Rate."-SPIN

"As mentioned previously, Audacity blew Black Time off stage when they played with us back in 2007. They were to be the first of many, many American bands (he sobbed) that showed us how it should be done on our two trips to the states, but to date I’m convinced that they were the best – an absolutely astonishing performance. My dazed clutching to the fact that it must have been a fluke and the songs can’t have been that good has been consecutively disproved by a demo CD-R, a tape, and most conclusively by the ‘Power Drowning’ LP. It combines everything that is good and great about snotty three-chord teenage garage music: singalong angst anthems, blurry tempos, unhinged performances, bittersweet ballads (yes ballads!), goofy humour, hormone raging energy, all captured with the perfect balance of rawness and detail in a typically fine recording by Mike McHugh. There’s a real sense of a band that’s more than the sum of its parts – there’s nothing that remarkable about any individual player but together they lock into this raging groove and concoct inspired arrangements that get the best out of each song. There’s lots of bands around at the moment who do one kind of thing really well but fall down at the longplayer stage ‘cos they hit you over the head with 12 examples of it and that can get tired over two sides of wax. Audacity switch up tempo and mood frequently enough that the album is still lying in the ‘regular listen’ pile next to my turntable after many spins.
With such a great record under their belts, I assumed that everyone must be going hog-wild for Audacity in their homeland and they would be enjoying a hallowed period of headlining county fairs, playing civic functions for Governor Schwarzenegger and starring in their own Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello style series of beach party movies. Peering through the rusty interpipe in my leaky Victorian garret though I can discern some evidence that this may not in fact be the case and instead everyone is distracted by listening to indie-pop revival acts and limited edition cassettes by bands called TTTTTTrussstFFund. I implore thee, pilgrim cousins, to correct this oversight immediately by purchasing ‘Power Drowning’ - you can thank me later. If you’re not sold on my rambling hyperbole then you may be swayed by the fact that their bass player is called Cameron Crowe." - Terminal Boredom

Fuck yeah! That's some serious praise and we're backin' all that and then some. Audacity pump out spazzoid, voice-cracking, angst driven garage punk with unstoppable energy. "Juvajive" is 9 cuts of bouncing of the walls lunacy lovingly pressed up by the fine folks at Cut Rate and Burger Records with an eye poppingly colorful cover. harken back to 2007 and let these young punks rip yer skull cap back with these frenzied freak outs! Mega Recommended.

LP - Pentaject Corporation - Pentaject Has A Better Way - $11.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen
LIMITED TO 100 COPIES

We scored a very small batch of this ultra-limited reissue of one of the more obscure early 80's Chicago post-punk/outsider acts Pentaject Corporation.  This was originally released in 1981 and the band has now repressed in an edition of 100.  After the break up of a group called The Bugs, Bob Brink and John Nelles founded Pentaject Corporation, named after Brink's fathers company of the same name.  Lyrical content was inspired by the company's business of rubber injection molding and the tunes consist of lo-fi recordings of guitar, drums and echoed vocals.  We're hearing hints of Ralph Records leanings, UK DIY cassette culture vibes, some Hardcore Devo, Urinals, 100 Flowers, Flying Lizards,  Electric Eels, deconstructed experimental r'n'r and some truly original sounds made from a duo that seemed to work in isolation.  The tracks are skeletal, angular, herky jerky and idiosyncratic oddities about rubber and rubber manufacturing lending even more to the truly outsider quality of the sounds found within these grooves.  Pentaject Corporation self-released several cassettes and a 7in single that is long out of print and highly collectible. Information on this group is next to nil on the internet and what little we do know was provided directly from the band themselves.   So act fast, cuz this was pressed in such a small quantity that this is surely to be as sought after as the original.  Super Recommended.

LP - Joseph - Stoned Age Man - Reissue - $21.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

Swampy, fuzzed-out, hard-rockin' guitar madness from Texas gunslinger, Joseph! "Stoned Age Man" was the lone album from this Lone-Star State lunatic, originally released on Scepter and reissued here by the fine folks at Sundazed! Grab that loincloth and take them shoes 'n' socks off fellow troglodytes - read on:

"Rooted in the steamy backroads of Texas and deep-fried at a Memphis recording studio, Joseph’s Stoned Age Man was served up like a sizzling hot rattlesnake appetizer slathered in fuzz-blooz grease in 1969. Legend has it that the titles of eight of the album’s nine songs came before they were written on the spot, which speaks volumes for the talents of Joseph (aka, Joseph Longeria) — who A&R man Steve Tyrell signed to Scepter Records after witnessing the Lone Star State bluesman gig with B.B. King and T-Bone Burnett. Brandishing his guitar like a Cro-Magnon’s club, Joseph mixes his fuzzy licks with meat-grinder vocals as he loudly ruminates of fattened snakes, fish heads, mountains, cavemen and gumbo in the maddest peyote hallucination Alley Oop never had. Long revered among collectors, this fine slab o’ rock gets its first-ever reissue from the original masters, pressed at RTI onto 180 grams of cold hard vinyl that’ll rip your turntable from its hinges."

Geezus, Joseph doesn't waste any time blowing your mind, hitting hard straight outta the gate with "Trick Bag", grinding hard on his fuzz pedal and letting loose with an array of in-studio psychedelic trickery! The album get's wilder from there, with Joseph sounding like an LSD and speed-fueled version of Beefheart or Edgar Broughton crossed with Dr. Teeth or the Riverbottom Nightmare Band! At it's best moments, there's a proto-punk feel to tracks like "Gotta Get Away" (Rob Tyner, anyone?) and a voodoo-tinged, psych-funk trip on others like the title track, or "Cold Biscuits and Fish Heads".  If you like your Boneheads crunchy, or just a fan of tripped out hard rock, then Stoned Age Man is your ticket to a mind-expanding head-trip! Remastered and reissued on 180gm vinyl for maximum bodaciousness! RECOMMENDED.

LP - Jaime Paul Lamb - Oxmanlioneagle: Primitive Soundscapes and Occult Garagefunk - $14.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

Los Angeles, CA based multi-instrumentalist composer Jaime Paul Lamb dropped our collective jaws with his "Oxmanlioneagle: Primitive Soundscapes and Occult Garagefunk" LP on Paradigms Recordings.  Here's just a hint of what one will find deep within this storied collection of recordings according to the label:

"Alchemical R&B. Mystic ghettoscapes. Jungle death rituals with painted skulls. Musical resurrections from 2006-2010CE. Listen high. Burn 3 candles. Stand naked in center. Transmutate."

Uuuuuuhhhmmm… hell yes! Sign us up for some of that indeed.  We're hearing pepperings of the BYG Actuel label, like Musica Elettronica Viva and Art Ensemble Of Chicago, or even some "Strange Strings" era Sun Ra, a little of the Sun City Girls/Majora label reappropriations, lotsa tribal percussion and Moondog stylings, some damn fine free-form Fender Rhodes, jazzy bass workings, frenzied piano passages, and some seriously far our spiritually infused hypnotic sounds that are currently ruling our ears!  Supremely Recommended.

Tape - Hooveriii - Quest For Blood - $4.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen
LIMITED TO 100!!!

Young Bert Hoover of the Jesus Sons breaks away for a minute to record some of his own material with mechanically rhythmic backing.  Live, he's backed by another Jesus Son, Erik Lake, on bass.  These catchy garage numbers are quite crunchy at times and well-written to boot.  A tastefully chosen Stooges cover fits well in the mix.  The drum machine works well enough on this format, but I recently experienced hooveriii in the flesh with a live drummer (Cameron from Froth) and it really gave these raw power.  Further proof that drum machines have no soul.  Underground rock'n'roll's next prodigal son is on the rise.  Watch out!

LP - Basic Cable - I'm Good To Drive (Black Wax, Ltd 200) - $14.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

Permanent Records' 39th label release! - Our buds at the Empty Bottle penned this little bit about Basic Cable for our 7th Year Anniversary party and we think it sums these snide booze fueled bad vibe bringers up very fucking nice:

"Channeling bad vibes, worse hangovers and a general life-keeps-shitting-on-us attitude, Chicago's BASIC CABLE find a way to have fun as they commiserate with each other, and their listeners. Fairly new to "the scene," their blown out guitars, shouted, monotone vocals and punishing rhythms make for a noisy, punk-as-fuck attack that tingles our dingles in ways we can barely comprehend." – Empty Bottle

Review snippets from split flexi single with Endless Bummer on Notes and Bolts / Eye Vybe Records:
"Basic Cable, formed by ex-Loose Dudes, Heavy Times, and current Running members, is a thrashing two minutes of caterwauling vocals, and instruments that sound like they're going to fall apart at any moment." – Notes and Bolts / Eye Vybe Records

"Basic Cable, comprised of some Chicago's assorted noteworthy maniacs from various other quality acts mentioned above, lean in thick and mean with a paranoid rocker that pummels a riff into the ground while some terrifying laser sound sets its sights for your soul. It's all over waaaay too soon, so here's hoping we're getting more material from BOTH acts in the near future. Savagely Recommended." – Permanent Records

LP - Frantix - My Dads A Fuckin Alcoholic - $13.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

Incredibly SWEET and absolutely necessary anthology of Denver, Colorado punk pioneers Frantix recorded output! Alternative Tentacles have done the world a favor by collecting the tunes here, so crack a sixer and kick back a pint of what AT's pouring:

"Aurora’s Frantix transfixed the early 1980s Colorado punk scene with their unique sound and chaotic live show, releasing just two 7-inch EPs before evolving into the equally renowned grunge band The Fluid, Sub Pop’s first non-Seattle signing who helped lead the label’s grunge invasion of the mainstream. The group’s complete recorded works—both EPs plus rare, unreleased and great-sounding demo and live material—are collected here, most tracks appearing on vinyl for the first time ever. Though many people mistakenly believe that Mudhoney’s well-known version of “My Dad’s a Fuckin’ Alcoholic” is an original, this is the true KBD classic! The mix of Ricky Kulwicki’s unstoppable, lava-flow guitar, Matt Bischoff’s droning, carpet-bombing bass, Davey Stewart’s train-wreck drums, and Marc Deaton’s teenage-zombie vocals is downright legendary. Frantix were never just hardcore, and one can hear it on their very first recordings from 1980: beneath the songs’ amphetamine stutter and sonic tachycardia are strands of rock ’n’ roll DNA belonging to Johnny Thunders and Keith Richards. “Dancin’ to Punk” and “FM Ear” are smeared with lipstick traces of the Modern Lovers. The classic “My Dad’s a Fuckin’ Alcoholic,” equal parts Black Flag and Flipper with a touch of the New York Dolls, sports a simple but unforgettable bass riff and sing-along chorus and was a local favorite that grew to national underground prominence after its original release. Frantix shared the stage with national acts and punk legends like Black Flag, TSOL, Circle Jerks and Dead Kennedys." - Alternative Tentacles

Most will know their KBD Vol. 6 "hit" 'My Dad's a Fuckin' Alcoholic', but the remainder of the tunes are worth a listen or twelve! Earworms like "FM Ear", "Dancin' To Punk" and "My Dad's Dead" (lotsa daddy issues in play here - ha!) will stick in your brainhole for weeks after! Given Denver's proximity to California, it's no surprise to hear the influence of Seventies/Eighties San Fran and Los Angeles punk on the band's sound, with echoes of Flipper, Black Flag, The Weirdos, The Dicks (Cali-version) all rearing their heads; damaged, feral and ugly.

LP - Robert Turman - Three Parts - Import - $24.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

The Cejero Records folks have pressed up a beauty of a release with this never before available material from P-Rex fave Robert Turman.  Here's what the label is supplying:

“Now the previously unreleased material recorded in El Cajon, California, 1991 is ready for release via Denmark’s Cejero. The three pieces are among Turman’s most hypnotic and sparse recordings. Layers of mystical tones wind in and out of each other in off-center patterns, creating a simple, yet spatial and truly unique atmosphere. No one but Robert Turman could have created this music.” – Cejero

We lost our minds over previous Turman release "Way Down" reissued by both Dais and Burka For Everybody and now to get another installment of Robert Turman's unique minimal synth workings is a total joy round these parts.  "Three Parts" is just that, three tracks titled only by the time of their duration that slither and glide into ethereal dark washes of intertwining harmonic hypnosis.  And although all tracks are beatless, they still flutter and pulse with churning repetitive rhythms supplied by arpeggiating overlapping keywork while laser-like drones quibble overtop.  Any and all fans of Bitchin Bajas, Terry Riley, Klaus Schulze, Chris Carter and Cabaret Voltaire take notice!  Super Recommended.

LP - Soundcarriers - Entropicalia - Import - $24.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

YES! Hoo baby, we have been waiting for THIS one for a while now; the brand-new album from The Soundcarriers, this time on their new home; the ever-elusive and scarily consistent Ghost Box Records!!

"Entropicalia is the third full album from The Soundcarriers. New to the world of Ghost Box, their switched on sounds are filmic, fantastic and authentically psychedelic.
The rock solid rhythm and bass of songwriters, Adam Cann and Paul Isherwood provide a jazz inflected, motorik groove for Dorian Conway’s guitar and the whirling keys and sunshine voice of Leonore Wheatley. Jesse Chandler of Midlake guests on Hammond and flute on two tracks, and film actor Elijah Wood talks the listener through a mathematically guided trip on the extended wig-out This is Normal.
Sumptuous packaging for both CD and Vinyl is designed by Julian House with liner notes by Ben Graves (of the Toys and Techniques blog). Vinyl version includes free download code."

These cats blew our collective doors off with their 2012 "Boiling Point" EP on Great Pop Supplement - a dizzying update on the Lounge-cum-BBC Workshop sound launched by bands like Stereolab and Broadcast. "Entropicalia" is their third proper full-length (and their first since 2010's 'Celeste'), and finds the band picking up right where they left off; pulsing, head-bopping grooves evoking both the rhythmic and exploratory drive of Neu! with the dark, winsome tunefulness of Sixties acts like the Free Design or Perrey-Kingsley. Tunes like the album closer "This Is Normal" bring things full-circle into the present-day evoking modern hip-hop/beat-oriented acts like Dan The Automator or Heliocentrics who find new and interesting ways to weave a tasty groove into a more avant framework. This album is a corker and begs for repeated listens (which we are HAPPY to give)! We're vibing HARD on this one and "Entropicalia" seems destined for 'Top-Tenner' status - unequivocally RECOMMENDED. Grab this one while it's available - Ghost Box vinyl NEVER seems to stick around for too long!

LP - Swans - To Be Kind - $27.99 - LISTEN listen TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK IN CHICAGO, EMAIL IF INTERESTED listen

Any new Swans material is ultra-welcomed here at Camp P-Rex and this feature length 3xLP(!!!) "To Be Kind" is down right EPIC!  Check out the rave review from the LA Times to get a taste of what's in store:

"Swans' grand new album, "To Be Kind," is a career-defining work that few could have expected from a 30-plus-year project considered by many to be well past its peak. At 122 minutes, it's as long as a movie and as densely heavy as a Richard Serra sculpture. Defying easy categorization, "To Be Kind" is a rock album, but it's not something to be taken lightly. Brash, polarizing, fearless and filled with a purity of vision that would make Col. Kurtz blanch, the work features mountains of guitars and beats made with boulders, brass, laser-gun noises, guest vocals from Annie Clark (a.k.a. St. Vincent) and a sprawling vision. At various times, founder Michael Gira squawks like Johnny Rotten, at others he pleads like Patti Smith. He conjures the spirit of Jim Morrison on "She Loves Us," loses himself on the marvelous opener "Screen Shot," a man lost amid fury and rhythm. On "Bring the Sun," Gira roars like he's feral.
Best, though, "To Be Kind" is fearless — unafraid to alienate, to kowtow, to expand beyond the constraints of the standard structure, to lean into the burn. At various times suggesting to the Doors' "The End," Velvet Underground's "Sister Ray" or the Stooges' "Funhouse," the album isn't so much music to hear as a headspace to descend into — a sound that you need to really make a decision on. Do you feel like total immersion? Can you endure such intensity? How much, really, do you want to rock? If it's only a little, or you're with your 10-year-old kid and you don't want him to have nightmares, go elsewhere. This will terrify. But if you want to get real, real gone, "To Be Kind" will guide you. Just be careful." - LA Times

Funded in part by a super limited (and now long gone) hand made 2xCD entitled "Not Here/Not Now" also on Swans' mastermind Michael Gira's Young God Records that consisted of live recordings from Swans 2012/2013 tour, "To Be Kind" is made up of mostly live set staples from the same tour.  These tracks were further developed over several shows before being fine-tuned in the studio to make up this colossal triple LP of sonics only the mighty Swans could conjure.  "To Be Kind" is yet another genre defying notch in the ever evolving Swans repertoire and we are sure this thing is gonna be on LOTS of year end lists.  Anyhow, if you haven't gathered by now "To Be Kind" is most certainly Mega Recommended by yer friends at ol' Permanent Records.

LP - Merchandise/Destruction Unit/Milk Music - USA 13 - $14.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

HOLY HELL 540 Records is unleashing the mother of all split lps, entitled "USA 13" featuring Merchandise, Destruction Unit and Milk Music.  One lean mean rock trifecta if you ask us!!!!

"The Milk Music / Merchandise / Destruction Unit split LP is a document of a 2013 US tour which drew worldwide attention from those interested in the modern US rock underground from a seemingly unlikely combination of bands.
When we say “unlikely” it is because these bands are from the geographical fringes of the country: from the far corners (the other East and West coast corners) we have the despondent and desperate Merchandise (Florida) and the freedom freak jams of Milk Music (Washington), and from the depths of the Sonoran desert the majestic psychedelic assault of Destruction Unit.
When we say “unlikely” we don’t want to suggest they are ill-fitted. While the songs occasionally scrape against one another in disparate tone and pace, the resulting sparks thrown off do little to affect the overall congruency of these bands, a communal trip and a beautiful come down: we move from the introverted warmth of Merchandise to the sensory overload of Destruction Unit into a blissful, careering drift in the capable arms of Milk Music. The booklet that accompanies the record, designed by Destruction Unit’s J.S. Aurelius, collates some of the fliers and photos from the road, and gives one pause to consider: is this is a document of the best of the American psych underground in 2013/2014?
That’s high talk. But let’s get high: these bands have a relentless work ethic and their members tour continually in these and many other high quality bands, and if they’re not in your city tonight they’ll probably be there tomorrow, so start the party tonight, here, with this record, a perfect place to get acquainted with some of the energy of the heavy current that is flowing through the underground right now." - 540 Records

All three of the bands have become shops faves and to have new songs from all three groups is one place killer to say the least.  From the pummeling psych riffs of Destruction Unit to the angsty distorto grunge moves of Milk Music and on through the art damaged post punk grit of Merchandise, this one's gonna stay near and dear to yer heart and ears for the long run.  Yeah 540 Records is right, this is a tasty sample of America's unruly ever fertile underground rock scene.  So stop yer hesitating cuz this one's TRIPLE RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!

LP - Eat Lights Become Lights - Into Forever - Import - Edition of 500 on Silver Vinyl - $17.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

Great Pop Supplement continues it's 2014 winning streak with this AMAZING new album "Into Forever" from Eat Lights Become Lights, whose 2013 album "Modular Living" was a shop fave 'round these parts! GPS has the 411, so mind your P's and Q's and pay attention for a bit:

"Always a treat when a new Eat Lights Become Lights full length lands; this their 4th has a more adventurous, explorative sound than previous albums and is expected to follow the path set by the previous releases and sell out quick style.
Main man Neil Rudd approached the recording of “Into Forever” from a different perspective this time round. Huge swathes of time spent sampling percussive elements, ethnic instrumentation, thumb pianos and generally bringing a greater space and organic feel into his creative process has brought a much earthier sound to his work.
Citing minimalist composers such as Steve Reich and Moondog as key influences and a new found love of differing time signatures and tunings, the album’s quieter, more electronic passages showcase this fresh side to the ELBL sound perfectly. However for those who love the 2 chord, kraut drone pieces, worry not as the balance between both is expertly achieved.
A fabulous record already attaining rave reviews off the back of promo copies and 6music plays. The vinyl version is -as ever- on The Great Pop Supplement whose fully sold out back catalogue of tastily dressed vinyl only releases numbering 110+ looks like extending with this incredible new Eat Lights opus."

We're gonna go on record and say that this is without a doubt the most satisfying and cohesive ELBL album yet! Combining the more driving, electronic moments from their 2012 release "Heavy Electrics" and the more organic feeling (and sounding), pastoral ambiance of "Modular Living", "Into Forever" squiggles and pulses skyward upon kosmiche-coated wings. Rudd's drum machines pound and crack with a harsher tone, and the synth arrangements roll off the grooves with a slyly sophisticated air, luring you inward with a meditative groove. The great thing about ELBL, is Rudd's restlessness - he's not satisfied with taking the easy route (in recording or songwriting) which is why an ELBL feels different than any of the other neo-kraut/psych acts out there. It's not homage or pastiche - all of Rudd's influences (including the German-school, and his admitted affections towards Steve Reich's meditative tape loops, Moondog and assorted world musicians like Ali Farke Toure) come into play here with natural synergy, which is why an ELBL record sounds timeless. Grip this one now (because it rules, but) - we have the silver vinyl edition that's limited to 500, which won't last long! RECOMMENDED x INFINITY. We're prepared to play this one until it breaks: ∞

LP - John Harrison - Creepshow - OST - $31.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

SWEEET vinyl pressing of this cult horror flick directed by George Romero and Stephen King, scored by acclaimed composer John Harrison (Day of the Dead, Tales From the Darkside)! Waxwork Records (who also re-released the Re-Animator Soundtrack on wax last year) are the parties responsible for this one, so before you shave off that space moss, cop a squat and listen to Waxwork:

"Waxwork Records is thrilled to announce their next LP release to the 1982 horror anthology classic, Creepshow. The film was directed by GEORGE A. ROMERO and written by STEPHEN KING. The score was composed and performed by JOHN HARRISON (Day of the Dead, Tales From the Darkside). This definitive release of the film score has never before been released. The original master tapes of the Creepshow film score were lost for over 30 years, but with the efforts of composer John Harrison and Waxwork Records, the tapes were located in the attic of Jeree Recording Studios in New Brighton, PA. The tapes remained in remarkable shape over the years and were re-mixed and re-mastered for vinyl. The Creepshow score has never sounded this good. Pressed on 180-gram colored vinyl (Meteor Shit Green and Ocean Blue), and packaged with a satin-coated 12”x12” art print of The Creeper."

Fans of horror/sci-fi soundtracks are living in a GOLDEN AGE right now - between Death Waltz, Mondo, One-Way Static and Waxwork Records, every gorehound's wet dream wish-list soundtrack is finding a home on vinyl! The soundtrack to Creepshow is every bit as amazing as you could imagine; recorded by Harrison primarily on his Prophet 5 synth, the score has all the creeping, electronic dread of classic Eighties horror flix, but with a somewhat more playful vibe. It's not afraid to get a touch cheezy in parts - it works, in fact to the score's (and more importantly the FILM's) benefit. If we were imagining the soundtrack to a horror comic, this is most likely what we'd hear in our noggins. This sucker is BEE-YOO-TIFUL too, packaged gloriously in a full-color, tip-on gatefold jacket and includes a pasted-in booklet liners by director Romero and composer Harrison - AND an 11" x 11" art print to boot. DAMN! Chances are if you find yourself alone one night and feel like you're seeing hordes of cockroaches, zombies, crazed creatures or SPACE MOSS, then this is just the record to take your mind off it. RECOMMENDED WHOLEHEARTEDLY for freaks geeks and beyond! GET IT before you regret it!

LP - Delaclave - Run Straight To Them And Grunt - Import - $14.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

We're always stoked to get more French weirdness from La Grand Triple Alliance Internationale De L'est collective and their latest release is Delacave's "Run Straight To Them And Grunt."   Comprised of Lily Rotten on bass (Fast Arbeit Babes) and Seb Normal on synths/drum machines (Le Chomage, Feeling Of Love), "Run Straight…" is a menacing mess of off kilter glue wave, minimal synth robotics and post punk gloom.   Delacave's stripped down post apocalyptic dark wave nightmare is filled with analog synths, repetitive bass lines, deadpan vocals and low budget drum machines that conjure the ghosts of the Normal's "Warm Leatherette," Siouixie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Crash Course In Science and Suicide, but with that same "je ne sais quoi" that like minded bands the Dream, Plastobeton, Scorpion VIolente and AH Kraken all bring to their lps.  "Run Straight.." is a hauntingly morose and addicting spin, and definitely a sonic trip you need to take.  Seb Normal and Co. never let us down.  We don't know the scum stats on this one, but we're sure it’s a real small pressing.  So don't miss out.   HEAVILY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!

LP - Obnox - Louder Space - Green Wax - $12.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen
BACK IN STOCK!!!

Obnox is BACK and with a VENGEANCE!!!  Teamed up with 12XU Records once again, his latest joint is "Louder Space" and like we've learned before, you gotta PAY ATTENTION to what Bim has up his sleeves cuz the good jams just never stop.   But just don't take our word for it, read what Dangerous Minds has to say -

"It’s never happened before and it may never happen again—Obnox have recorded in a real studio. After an LP, a 2xLP, and over a half dozen 7”s recorded in a dumpy punk flophouse's living room on a let’s just say “experienced” half-inch tape deck, Cleveland OH’s biggest brotha Bim Thomas has tracked his new full-length at Columbus, OH’s Musicol Studio. Is “Louder Space” Obnox’s “Tallahassee?” Oh God, no.
That glorious rust belt/disgust belt grit and grime that makes the ‘Nox the ‘Nox is ALL there, good people. Call it Soul Noise, call it Splatter Gospel, hell, call it Urban Contemporary, who cares that it’s taken. From the lumpen stomp of “Primetime Sista,” to the boldly experimental anti-funk of “How to Rob ‘The Punk Years’” and “Red-I,” to the COMPLETELY SICK, fuzzed-out, industrial psych-blues of the jaw-dropping closer “Feeling Real Black Today,” Thomas’ punk spirituals satisfy the soul on “Louder Space” more than ever before. Obnox’s soul/punk fusion just keeps getting dirtier, more organic, and if this white boy may dare to say so, blacker with every go-‘round. You gotta get in on this shit, people. If you’re not on this train yet, it’s time. - Ron Kretch, Dangerous Minds"

YES!!!!!  We thought last year's "Corrupt Free Enterprise" was mind blowing, but HOLY HELL Obnox ups the ante even fucking more on "Louder Space."  With some extra time and better equipment at his disposal, this album is more potent, searing, hypnotic and heavy hitting than we even thought possible.  Bim's soul/punk/hiphop/garage explosion of influences is boiled down to a wall of sound so epic, fuzz coated, layered and warped that it sounds like nothing else.  Take the rustbelt R&B outta the Dirtbombs, the reverb gospel outta the Oblivians, the psych destruction outta Monoshock, the studio wizardry outta Madlib, the blues outta the Blues Explosion and the balls out crazy proto punk sleaze outta Rocket From The Tombs and you might get close to a description.  Maybe.  But really YOU JUST NEED TO HEAR TO BELIEVE and believe you will.
So if you still haven't checked out Obnox yet, the TIME IS NOW.  And if you have, man you're in for one tasty garage punk wrecking ball of a treat.   Seriously "Louder Space" is not gonna leave our turntable til summer.  And it's a sure bet to be on many of our top ten lists at the end of the year.   SO ACT NOW AND GET THE LIMITED GREEN WAX VERSION, cuz "Louder Space" is SSSSSSUUUUUUPPPPPPEEEEEERRRRRR RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!

LP - Thee Oh Sees - Drop - $15.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen
BACK IN STOCK!!!

In what seems like mere months since Thee Oh Sees announced their "hiatus", we are treated not only to a John Dwyer solo album (the awesome "Damaged Bug" LP) but also this platter right here, "Drop" - Thee Oh Sees' twelfth studio album since 2006 (not counting numerous singles collected and EPs of the 12 & 7-inch variety). As you might expect it's on Dwyer's label Castle Face, so listen up to what they're layin' down:

"Our lad John P. Dwyer has been lancing eardrums with Thee Oh Sees in an ever-escalating flurry of records for the past six years. Since the release of The Master’s Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In announced a new loud era (and excepting a few momentary detours into home-baked territory—Dog Poison and Castlemania, for example), Dwyer and company have pummeled a bit harder each time out, cementing their reputation as a live force to be reckoned with and leaving legions sweaty and bruised in the process. Late last year, after years of relentlessly touring the world, the word got out… Dwyer’s moving to Los Angeles (fear not, still California!) and Thee Oh Sees are taking a much-needed hiatus with a shifting of gears ahead and a new album on the way. This is that album.  Drop was recorded in a banana-ripening warehouse (no joke) with hair-farming studio warlock Chris Woodhouse playing drums; it’s also graced with the presence of talented gurus Mikal Cronin, Greer McGettrick and Casafis adding horns and vocals. The result pushes the familiar polarities of the group farther outward than ever before. Opener “Penetrating Eye” might be the heaviest Oh Sees song yet, “Transparent World” and “Put Some Reverb On My Brother” foam with seasick fuzz, and yet the ballads, like the harpsichorded “King’s Nose” and the lush and stately closer “The Lens,” extend their oeuvre into mellotronic, far-out pop with delicacy and grace.  This schizophrenia heralds the man and the band into an unseen future in classic Dwyer fashion—restless energy harnessed into exquisitely crafted jams, with an emphasis on the pensive and the paranoid in turns."

After the pummeling and inventive ferocity of last year's "Floating Coffin", the measured attack of "Drop" seems like a step back (or at least a step sideways) for our fair heroes, but repeated listens are rewarded with many treasures; the weird squiggling synth lines and unexpected melodic twists on tunes like the hypnotic burner "Encrypted Bounce" and the stately, acid-bubbler "Savage Victory". "Drop" also has its fair share of barnstormers, like opener "Penetrating Eye" that sounds like a leaner and meaner version of the classic lineup (despite everything - sans drums - being played by Dwyer himself). If you're already a fan, this writeup is meaningless and you've already "DROP"d this one in your shopping cart (eh? eh?), but if you're on the fence REST ASSURED - "Drop" is well worth your time. We're digging it FULL ON and might need a hanky or two to wipe off the moistened areas after spinning this a few times. RECOMMENDED x INFINITY ~ DWYER 4 PREZ.

LP - Counter Intuits - Sheets Of Hits - $11.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen
BACK IN STOCK!!!

Columbus, OH living LEGEND, Ron House is back with an all-new project, this time in collaboration with Times New Viking's Jared Phillips called Counter Intuits! Mr. House released this bad-boy all by hisself on his own 'Pyramid Scheme' Record label - check the wreckage:

"Not-totally-French-existentialist RON HOUSE (GREAT PLAINS, THOMAS JEFFERSON SLAVE APARTMENTS, PSANDWICH) teams up with eater-of-the-free-chicken-of-Bob-Petric, JARED PHILLIPS (TIMES NEW VIKING) to hit all the lo-fi indie-punk buttons of The Columbus Sound—loose, clever, catchy, intense, and wrong."

Those familiar with the discography and output of Ron House will surely have expectations of this one - House's shambolic and rambling lyrical delivery is a stream-of-consciousness poetry not unlike the free-flowing word-smithing of folks like Doc Dart or Jad Fair. Musically is where this gets interesting, Phillips and House both are entrenched in Columbus' long history sonic squalor and ALL the right buttons are being pushed here - Phillips is responsible for all the sounds here and the apple doesn't fall TOO far from the TNV tree, but Counter Intuits ramble on with a more sinister, DIY post-punk vibe - echoes of The Fall, Desperate Bicycles, Swell Maps and even Tronics poke their heads above the din. Make no mistake, even though Phillips wrote the music and House is just responsible for the words, the two mesh seamlessly, each one complimenting the other like a fine wine with dinner (or at least chocolate and peanut butter).  These's something very AUSTRALIAN sounding here, but it's Ron House we're talkin' about here - heck, practically all the bands gigging down under are using TJSA as a wellspring so FUGGEDDABOUTIT. Do we need to tell you that this thing is essential?  GEEZ.  Just GET THIS NOW!!!

LP - Ego Summit - The Room Isn't Big Enough (2013 Reissue) - $13.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen
BACK IN STOCK!!!

HELL YES!  Five Four-O Records just reissued the much sought after / long outta print cult fave LP "The Room Isn't Big Enough" from the legendary Ohio rock supergroup Ego Summit.  Just look at who's involved in this album and immediately you'll be off running to the shop to grab a copy: Ron House, Mike Rep, Tommy Jay, Jim Shepard and Don Howland!!!!!   Seriously don't read any further, unless you really need convincing, which we bet you won't:

"I can almost remember the day that Rep sent me the first issue of this LP. Taking it out of the package I glommed the title, looked at who was participating and snorted appreciatively. Ego Summit – perfect! Don Howland, Jim Shepard, Ron House, Tommy Jay and Michael Hummel were all guys whose impact on the world of music (as it is known) was questionable, but all of them were well-known at the sub-underground level, and it was damn certain they all felt like kings! Between them they had created sounds and records that were legendary and influential, but the fact that they were all bums dedicated to living in Columbus, Ohio made the reality of their impact something that was hard to appreciate if you lived further away than Dayton (home of GBV). But as the years peeled away, oddball record collectors (and perhaps, even, the women who love them) have come to appreciate the insane form-moves this cabal of record collectors was up to. By the time of this release, they’d been putting out records for years, with bands as diverse as Gibson Bros, Bassholes, Vertical Slit, V-3, Great Plains, Mike Rep and the Quota, True Believers (OH), and in various solo incarnations of one form or another. Each had evolved a dinstinctive sound, redolent of every goddamn record he’d ever heard – from Ramblin’ Thomas to the Twinkeyz to Armand Schaubroeck Steals to Destroy All Monsters, and they were ready to roll it all out. Ego Summit functions like a download of everything they’ve ever really loved, from the VU’s Live ’69 to Quicksilver’s cover of Buffy Ste. Marie’s “Codine”, all piled up in a beautifully loose garage band jumble. I’m never sure whether my fave track is Ron House’s “Rise Sherry” (with its lazy approximation of the original Contortions’ slide guitar/bass dualism), Jim Shepard’s abosultely blown talling-blues, “We Got It All” (the best experiment in the form since the Minutemen’s “History Lesson Part Two”), or Don Howland’s “Wife Blues” (a track that makes every motion by Spencer’s Blues Explosion extraneous), but the whole goddamn thing is great. A totally superior listen, by a bunch of clowns who were their own best fans. And knew why. Now you do too. --Byron Coley"

Ego Summit is one helluva ramshackle basement jam session from some our favorite musicians of all time.  Whether it's the lo-fi gutbucket blues of Don Howland's (Bassholes, Gibson Bros) songs, or the irrevenant outsider punk of Ron House (Great Plains, Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments), or Jim Shepard's (V3, Vertical Slits) trebly anthems or the Mike Rep and Tommy Jay doing just what they do best (you know what we mean), Ego Summit is a head rush of pure rock n roll with killer songwriting that's coated in a fine layer of analog reverb just how we like it.   "The Room Isn't Big Enough" has been nearly impossible to find since it's initial release in '97, so the fact we can spin this one over and over again in the shop makes us more than content.  Don't miss out on this chance to own one of the most essential LPs of underground rock, Ohio based or otherwise.  SUPER RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!

7in - Meatbodies - Wahoo b/w Steps - $5.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

In The Red is back with another ripper of a release, this time from LA's Meatbodies! This single is a teaser for a forthcoming album, and let's just say our ears are more than sufficiently primed!!!!

"This is the debut single by the Meatbodies (formerly known as Chad & the Meatbodies) after having a cassette release on Ty Segall's God? label and a split single with Ty Segall on the Famous Class label. The Meatbodies are fronted by Chad Ubovich (he also plays bass in Fuzz) and have quickly gained a reputation as an amazing live band known for their fuzzed-out heavy psych rock. Look for another single and their debut album to follow later this year." - In The Red

These two sun/acid fried blasts of blown out garage psych are definitely gonna catapult the Meatbodies onto everyone's radar.   From the searing guitar solos to the hazy warped melodies, this 7 inch is just the kind of heavy hittin' / bone crunchin' dose of primal rock and reverb madness that always gets us going!!!!   So yeah those into Fuzz, Ty Segall, Morgan Delt, Thee Oh Sees, Zig Zags and other like minded bands need this single STAT!  Cuz the Meatbodies might just be your new favorite band.  SUPER RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!

Tape - Blank Veins - From One Head - Edition of 109 - Import - $6.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

We scored a batch of this mega-limited cassette from Greece's Blank Veins and it is just as pants shittingly amazing as their previous single that blew our minds back in 2012.  "From One Head" is 4 more cuts of brutality in the realm of Brainbombs/No Balls, Flipper, Throat, Drunks With Guns and Rusted Shut and all things vile and repugnant.  If you like yer noise punk on the negative side then one must grip this cassette pronto.  Caustic, pummeling and generally off-putting is what Blank Veins excel at this hand numbered cassette is start to finish feedback drenched hate rock extraordinaire!  Super Recommended.

Tape - Spacin' - Megatations - $6.99 - BUYbuy - LISTEN listen

"Philadelphia's Spacin', who share members with Birds of Maya and Chris Forsyth's Solar Motel Band and whose Deep Thuds was one of 2012's shining moments, released a limited-run European tour CD-R last year called Megatations. Fortunately for those of us on the west side of the Atlantic, though, Telephone Explosion is re-releasing Megatations on tape-- with a couple new tracks for good measure. Posted below is the tape's B-side: a blown-out psychedelic mess that starts off with a wall of noise before slowly finding a pretty deep groove. The groove gets quicker, and by the end of the side, the band choogles nice and good-- similar to some of Deep Thuds' but more aimless-in-a-good-way." - adhoc.fm" - Telephone Explosion
