CHILEAN PSYCH ALERT!!!!!!
Mexican Summer brings us the latest from Chile's La Hell Gang, so read on sonic traveler for the full story directly from the label:
"Imagine a still oasis on a man-made Martian desert, saturated with rust and red clay. Gravity has shifted slightly, though the atmosphere is warm and dense, and everything around you is moving more slowly than you are used to. You're just waking up to this world, a realm not entirely beyond your comprehension, but all the same, part of a new reality to contend with and romanticize. Chilean rock trio LA HELL GANG’s second album Thru Me Again is the soundtrack to this strange new land. Earning high praise from their debut, 2010's Just What Is Real, La Hell Gang have traded in the cleaner, '60s-indebted sonics which populated that record with something more complex, a murkier palate that instills these eight songs with languid mystery. Thru Me Again wades through these danger-infested waters with otherworldly grace, hanging back in the frame while their brand of laced blues wander fills the room with an unassailable vibe of concentrated lust. Providing a counterpart to the sounds of fellow travelers in their homebase of Santiago, such as Watchout! and Föllakzoid, Thru Me Again is the product of a band mastering its own language, and learning that the tender moments of their music can go as deep as their proverbial paint-peelers. You might be visiting this new world, but La Hell Gang lives there, knows every crater, all the flora and fauna, and have generously offered to take you on a journey of their architected existence. You would be wise to follow."
We've been long time supporters of the Chilean underground psych scene and we raved about La Hell Gang's 2010 debut LP "Just What Is Real". And now the gang has returned to the fold with their latest installment of head nod lysergic stoner jamz titled "Thru Me Again". These 8 tracks take their time and journey deep into textured sonics with hypnotic tremoloing guitars atop fat pulsing bass grooves and laid back rhythms. Tie-dyed THC dream state slow burners are the name of the game and La Hell Gang are quite simply owning the airwaves right here. Super Recommended.
NEW AUSSIE NOISE ROCK ON HOMELESS!!!
SMOKY HAZE WAX LIMITED TO 100 COPIES!!!!!!!
Homeless Records continues to unleash the top-notch Aussie burliness that we fiend for around these parts and the latest by Shovels is down right dangerous! Get the vitals straight from the label here:
"Australian psych-post-punk fury of clanging guitars, pummeling drums and thick, sinewy basslines combine for a primal, minimalistic outpouring of swaggering rawk.
For fans of Lubricated Goat, A Frames, My Disco and feedtime" - Homeless
Homeless Records has brought us the likes of Cuntz, Night Terrors, Sewers and Bits Of Shit and with that track record you bet yer ass we were beyond stoked to grip this new LP by Shovels and lo and behold it is 8 tracks of dirge worship from the land down under! Just the kind of mutant platter we live for. Shovels' self titled LP is primitive, psychedelic, no bullshit brain busting noise punk that comes with our highest Recommendation! Do it!
BACK IN PRINT WITH DIFFERENT COVER ART!!!!!!
Genius and Brutality. Taste and Power. The Torn Light Records has all the gnarly details behind this brain damage inducing slab of misanthropy:
"Mid tempo to sludgy noise rock from Chicago, IL. Rectal Hygienics take their time stomping through 7 tracks of nihilistic, perverse and noise ladened rock. FFO: Rusted Shut, Brainbombs, Twin Stumps and the like.
Featuring ex and current boys of Socially Retarded, Sea of Shit, Hate Basement, Machismo, Abuse Patterns, CSTVT and SHARPTOOTH.
LP comes housed in a screen printed jacket with a fold out poster/lyric sheet. 300 copies one time pressing on black vinyl." - Torn Light Records
Hell Yeah! Chicago's Rectal Hygienics unleash a platter of punishment in the vein of Twin Stumps, Rusted Shut and Brainbombs as stated above and you know we love us some attitude filled negative noise rock. Rectal Hygienics are not here to play nice, as waves of feedback and flopping guttural bass riffs and pummeling drum patterns are held at bay by a barking bile filled growl spewing all things unpleasant to say the least. Originally released as a mega-limited cassette, the RH duders have finally got this on vinyl just in time to never leave your turntable. This is sure to piss off your neighbors as it is meant to be played at the highest of volumes. Viciously Recommended.
